Program 2008 2008 Spring Program & Summer Preview Spring is not that far away!! We hope you will take the time to check
out our spring programs and summer camp offerings. Also, check out the new website for updates,
information, and schedules. If there is something that you don’t see that
interests you, feel free to call us or e-mail us and discuss it. We are always
open to adding new programs to the recreation landscape. Andy

McCarthy, Assistant Director Baseball & Softball Registration for Grades K-6 Open registration for youth baseball and
softball will be held in the Parks and Recreation office at the Community
Center Tuesday, March 4th-Friday, March 7th and the week of Monday,
March 10th-Friday, March 14th from 8AM-6PM on those dates. March 14th will be the registration deadline for these
programs. PLEASE help us plan our
programs by enrolling your child during this 2 week period. There will be a $5.00 late fee for any
sign-ups after March 14th. Uniform Cost: There will be a non-refundable charge for a
uniform or T-shirt. Grades K-2 will
receive a T-shirt for a $10.00 fee.
Grades 3-6 will receive pants, shirt, hat, and socks for a $30.00
fee. You may also buy the uniform
without the pants for $20.00 if you already have pants. • • **This is a camp preview and all times and dates are subject to change due
to construction on the schools in Springfield.

BASKETBALL-BOYS/GIRLS: These
camps will be held the weeks of July 7th-11th for the boys and July 14th –18th for the girls at the Riverside
Middle School gym. The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades 3-8. SHS
girls varsity coach AJ McAllister and his players will assist with the girl’s
camp and varsity boy’s coach Pete Peck and his players will assist with the
boy’s camp. Cost is $50.00 and includes a T-shirt.
Boys
Grades 3-5: 10AM-12PM Boys Grades 6-8: 1-3PM Girls: 7/14-7/18 5-7PM
TENNIS: There
will be two tennis camps again this year. The first will be July 7th-July 11th, and the second will be July
28th-Aug. 1st. SHS varsity coach Kim Lewis
will direct these camps. Sign up early because these camps fill up fast. Cost
is $40.00 for this camp.

GYMNASTICS
CAMPS: Due to construction at Park St. School we
may be unable to use the gymnasium for the gymnastics camps this summer. Please
look in our Summer Brochure or call Parks and Recreation to see if there will
be the “Tots” Gymnastics or Youth Gymnastics camps.
FIELD HOCKEY: SHS varsity coach Joy Benson
directs this camp open to students in grades 6 to High School. Here’s your
chance to improve your skills and get ready for the upcoming season. The camp
will be held at the SHS field hockey field August 4h-August 8th and includes a t-shirt.
Time: 9-11:00
AM Cost: $50.00
DANCE CAMP: Springfield
High School Dance Team Coach Kyla Beardsley directs this dance camp. This camp will be from July 28th- Aug. 1st. Times depend on age. This will be held at Riverside Middle
School.

5-6:30PM Price: $40.00 10-17 6:30-8PM $40.00
THEATRE: This camp is for students in grades
3-8. It is directed by Cindy Hughes and
is held in the Riverside Middle School auditorium. It will be held from July 14th-18th. Cost is $65.00 per student. Grades: 3-5 Time: 12:30-3:00PM6-8
9:30AM-12:00PM 6-9
MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER: This camp will be held the
week of August 4th-8th at the Riverside Middle
school fields for boys and girls in grades K-8. Separate forms will be used for
this camp, but are not yet available. For more information, or to register
online, go to www.mlscamps.com. Host families are needed to house camp
instructors. You will receive a free camp registration if you are selected.
Cost is $100 for Springfield residents and $110.00 for non-residents for grades
5-8. K-4 will be $70/residents and $75/Non-residents Grades: 5-8 9:00AM-12:00PM Grades: K-4 9-10:30 AM
During the summer a second soccer camp will be
offered. This camp will be at the end
of June. Please look at our Summer Brochure or call Parks and Recreation for
more information regarding this camp.
FOOTBALL CAMP: This is an instructional camp for students entering grades 6–9.
This camp will be held August 4th--8th at Riverside Middle School from 5:30 – 8:00 PM at
Brown Field behind the pool. Cost is $40.00 and includes a t-shirt. SHS coach
Rich Saypack along with other football staff directs this camp. ARTS & CRAFTS: This camp is directed again
by Maureen Bolduc and focuses on working with beads and pins, woodcraft, taking
nature walks, and other crafts. It will be held at Riverside Middle School the
week of June 23rd–June
27th . A second camp may be held
later in the summer. The camp is open to all children in grades 1-6. Cost is
$85.00 and includes all materials. Time is 9:30 AM-12:30 PM KARATE: We again plan to offer a
karate camp this summer at Riverside Middle School. This camp is scheduled for
the week of July 28th-Aug.
1st. Licensed instructor, 7th degree black belt, Ken
Bladyka, and brother of Andy, Parks & Rec. Director, will again direct this
camp. Ages: 5-8 Time:
9-10AM Price: $60.00
9-12 9-10:30AM $75.00
SWIM LESSONS: Swim
lessons will again be offered this summer at the town pool. Detailed information will be provided in the
summer brochure.
This May a PVC liner will be installed in the
pool. This liner will eliminate leaks,
and improve the pool surface as well as
greatly improve the water temperature throughout the summer. Springfield Senior Center
TERRI EMERSON, DIRECTOR 139 Main St. Springfield, VT (802) 885-3933 Everyone over 50 is invited to attend with no charge
for regular activities and/or facility use. The Center is open Monday-Friday
from 8:00AM-4:00PM. Various programs are offered and include cribbage,
shuffleboard, Songsters, indoor walking, and strength training. Call the Center
for more information.
FREE SERVICES: Blood pressure screening is
offered free the first Wednesday of every month from 9:00-11:00 a.m. SENIOR SPRING ATTIC SALE: Everyone is welcome to the
Senior Center on Saturday, May 17th for the “attic sale.” Time is from 9:00
a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be a sandwich “plus” luncheon as well. ROADRUNNERS: Various trips are being
offered to senior citizens. Center members get priority, but the trips are open
to non-members also. Stop into the center and pick up a brochure on our trips
for the year, or call the center at the above phone number.
