AmeriCorps

Members at the Council on Aging are looking for volunteers to help seniors with
small tasks that will allow them to continue living independently in their own
homes. We try to match volunteers
with compatible elders who need something that the volunteer has to offer. Potential volunteer tasks include:
shoveling, minor home repairs, decluttering, transportation, correspondence,
playing cards, reading aloud
Whatever you have to offer could possible benefit an elder in your
community. There is no minimum time
requirement)

(A citizen-based group working to improve
the quality of the Black River from its headwaters in Plymouth, VT all the way
to its mouth in the Connecticut River in Springfield. Our goals include improving and
monitoring water quality, habitat & vegetation, and increasing recreation of
all kinds on the river. We take a
positive, partner-based approach, working with landowners, farmers, businesses,
local and state organizations. We
have an annual cleanup event (August 21st) as well as other events
throughout the year: tree plantings, etc.)

(Restorative Justice is a different way of
looking at crime and our response to it.
It focuses on repairing the hard to the victims of crime while holding
offenders accountable for their actions.
It focuses less on punishment and more on realizing how ones actions can
affect so many people. We are
looking for volunteers to serve on our Restorative Panels working with youth and
adults, we are also looking for volunteers interested in being trained to work
with victims of crime or to facilitate group conferences, and we also have a few
spaces open on our Community Advisory Board (Must be a Springfield
resident).)
