On Saturday, May 19th, the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce was thrilled to perform a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate Springfield Animal Hospital’s Grande ReOpening Event! Following a major fire in January of 2017, the Animal Hospital was forced to close their doors and temporarily relocate. The disaster occurred shortly after the business passed hands and was transferred to new owners Dr. Dena Meehan and Dr. Brad Temple. Meehan commented that the timing was unfortunate for everyone involved. Luckily, no animals or humans were harmed in the fire, but the damage to the facility was substantial, and it took the better part of a year to renovate and rebuild. Thankfully, the Veterinarians and staff were able to set up shop in the meantime just down the street at RS Business Block, so they could continue serving their area clients while they waited for their building to be readied for reentry. After lots of long hours and hard work, Springfield Animal Hospital reopened at their true location of 346 River Street on August 28, 2017. The twenty full-time and part-time employees moved back into their space and focused their attentions on their patients and on reacclimating to the newly renovated facility. A small upside to the rebuilding process was the opportunity to rearrange a few things, create more versatile check-up rooms, and add a very nice fenced yard area for pets to safely spend time outdoors and get some fresh air. On May 19th, the team hosted a public Open House with guided tours, raffle and door prizes, and a customer appreciation cookout. In addition to providing a variety of standard veterinary services including spaying, neutering, and vaccinations, the state-of-the-art facility also offers breeding services, dentistry, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, radiology featuring digital X-Rays, endoscopy, cardiology, and ultrasound imaging. Flea and tick prevention and ongoing wellness programs are also available. The Springfield Animal Hospital has been a continuously supporting member of the Chamber for over thirty years, providing conscientious quality treatment for small animals and exotics in Springfield and the surrounding region.
